ALULA
ARTIST / MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST
Alula is a London-based writer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Holly Hardy. Previously known by her alt-pop moniker ‘Cuckoolander’, and as a touring musician for the likes of Charli XCX, William Doyle and Ebony Bones.
Alula’s debut EP ‘Love & Sound’ was abundant with life and energy, carrying a message of empowerment, individuality, and self-expression that as Hardy writes, 'make the world go round'.
The following singles “OO WAH (It’s All Good), “Fun” and “Slightly Obsessed” marked a real progression in her sound, folding in wider-ranging influences - from doo-wop to post-punk. A real eclectic and unpredictable artist, Alula stands alone for those making exuberant, smart, left-field pop.
Her sound under ‘Alula’ takes a step away from glossy pop anthems towards lofi, soulful, and percussive indie. With complex and energetic vocal layering, gritty bass lines, and cascading rhythms, she's created a new, original world for her voice and songwriting and the potential is huge.
